General practitioners (GP)

A general practitioner or GP is a medical practitioner who provides primary care and specialises in family medicine. A general practitioner treats acute and chronic illnesses and provides preventive care and health education for all. They have particular skills in treating people with multiple health issues.

As the Core Series does not have day-to-day benefits, you need to pay for these costs.

KeyCare Series

We pay for consultations and minor procedures at the member’s chosen KeyCare network GP.

When joining KeyCare you have to choose a GP from the KeyCare GP network. You have the option to choose both a primary and secondary GP. We will cover your day-to-day benefits in full at your chosen GP as long as the treatment is on our treatment lists.

We will cover you for one out-of-network visit per person per year; this includes a GP visit, with selected blood tests, selected x-rays and acute medicines (according to the KeyCare acute medicine formulary.)

If your GP sees you in hospital, we will pay this from the Hospital Benefit as long as you have confirmed your hospital admission with us.
