Designated Service Providers for Prescribed Minimum Benefits
A Designated Service Provider is a health facility (hospital) or health care provider who has an agreement with Discovery Health to provide treatment or services for Prescribed Minimum Benefits at a contracted rate.
Certain penalties may apply if members do not use a Designated Service Provider in case of a Prescribed Minimum Benefit.
For all Prescribed Minimum Benefit conditions, members must use our Designated Service Provider to get full cover. If a member chooses to use a hospital or healthcare professional who is not a Designated Service Provider, we will cover 80% of the Discovery Health Rate for the accounts and the member will be responsible for the balance.

- Specialist is any specialists who have agreed to charge the Discovery Premier Rate.
- General Practitioner is any GP participating in the Discovery Health GP Network and any GP participating in the KeyCare Primary Network.
