Discovery Life’s response to Mr Nav Chan’s complaints

Discovery is aware of a website posted by Mr Nav Chan. Mr Nav Chan registered complaints against Discovery Life with the FAIS Ombud and the Ombudsman for Long-term Insurance with regard to the annual increase to his Discovery Life premium. These offices are the appropriate forums within which such matters should be handled and whose decisions Discovery submits to. The FAIS Ombud has in the interim dismissed Mr Chan’s complaint as not being a valid complaint. Discovery awaits the formal response from the office of the Ombudsman for Long-term Insurance and trusts the matter will be resolved fairly and transparently.

Mr Nav Chan was also a former client of Discovery Health. His membership was terminated due to his submission of a number of irregular claims to the Discovery Health Medical Scheme. Discovery Health has filed a criminal case of fraud against him. This case is pending and therefore no further detailed comment can be provided.
