Overseas travel
You can use your DiscoveryCard at all Visa outlets worldwide. We would, however, advise you to call before leaving the country, so we can adjust your DiscoveryCard’s international limits.
Certain countries have set country code limits that reject foreign transactions. If you travel to these countries and have not contacted us to have your limits changed, your transactions may be rejected. This doesn’t necessarily mean you are over the limit, but rather that the codes are different for that country.
Please call us on 0860 11 CARD (2273) before your trip to change your DiscoveryCard international limits.
DiscoveryCard international travel insurance
The DiscoveryCard travel insurance benefit through Oojah Travel Protection underwritten by Hollard insurance) covers non-medical claims such as baggage loss or delay, personal accident, cancellation and curtailment, travel delays, personal liability and much more.
The DiscoveryCard travel insurance benefit will be available to you if you have an active Discovery Health or Discovery Life policy and have bought your air ticket or other means of travel on your DiscoveryCard. You must also have the Discovery Miles benefit to qualify for free international travel insurance through DiscoveryCard.
Please note that this benefit does not include cover for healthcare services. Discovery Health members, however have cover for healthcare services outside South Africa on certain Plans.
