Up to 55 days interest-free credit
Rather than looming and accumulating interest hanging over you each month, Discovery Card gives you 55 days of interest-free credit.

Free travel insurance
You get free overseas travel insurance just by paying for your travel with your Discovery Card.
Access to monthly email statements
Stay in touch and keep informed. As part of our credit card benefits, we will send you monthly email statements on all your Discovery Card transactions over the past month, so that you can manage how much you spend.
InSync transactional message service at no extra cost
For every transaction over R100 on your credit card, you’ll get an SMS with the time and amount of the transaction. If you were not responsible for the transaction, you’ll know immediately, and you can report it.
Delivery of your Discovery Card
No inconvenience when applying for or collecting your Discovery Card. You can apply over the phone and delivery is straight to your doorstep.
If you have a credit card from Discovery – known as the Discovery Card – you get to enjoy many exclusive privileges and credit card benefits. This includes free online banking. Log in, manage your account, stay updated and don’t worry about extra fees.
Online PIN management
Change your PIN online or, if you have forgotten your PIN, request a new one.

Extend your warranties
Buy an item with your DiscoveryPlatinum Card and get an automatic extension of the manufacturer's or retailer's warranty for up to 24 months from when you bought the item.

As long as you use your Platinum credit card from Discovery, you’ll get short-term protection against theft and accidental damage of your purchases.
DiscoveryMotor Card benefits
The DiscoveryMotor Card offers you a convenient way to settle your fuel and car-related bills. It also provides essential safety and protection on the road. With a DiscoveryMotor Card, you get all the invaluable benefits that you'd expect from a petrol card. These benefits include roadside assistance, towing, courtesy transportation, hotel accommodation and car rental. Apply for your DiscoveryMotor Card and drive with confidence and peace of mind.
The DiscoveryMotor Card is a facility on your Discovery Card - the credit card offering from Discovery. You have to be a Discovery Card holder to qualify for a DiscoveryMotor Card.

Europ Assistance will provide you with assistance when you experience any of the following:
If you have a flat tyre, assistance will be arranged to help you put your spare tyre onto your vehicle, at both roadside and non roadside locations. If your battery is flat we will arrange for assistance to start your vehicle where possible, even at non-roadside locations. We will also pay:
- For the call out fee and one hour’s labour for a locksmith to retrieve your keys, if you have locked them in your car.
- • For the call out fee and provide you with 10 litres of fuel, up to a maximum of twice a year, if you run out of fuel. Thereafter and at non-roadside locations, you will pay for the call out fee and the fuel.
You will get cover for tow-ins for mechanical or electrical breakdowns to the nearest place of repair or safekeeping, no maximum limit. An additional tow will be provided in the event of the most appropriate place not being open at the time of the incident, no maximum limit. If your car is in an accident, we will provide assistance, but as the cardholder, you must cover all costs. Assistance is also provided at non-roadside locations. Vehicles will be towed and assisted from or at home, but the member will not qualify for an additional tow from the place of safekeeping.
Mechanical or electrical breakdown 100 km from home
If you have broken down more than 100 km away from home, and we arranged the tow, we’ll cover you for one of the below services to a maximum of R500 in total:
- Accommodation for one night
- Transport service to a destination of your choice
- 24 hour, Group B car rental.
If you have broken down more than 100 km away from home, and we arranged the tow, we’ll arrange for your vehicle to be transported back to your home or place of work to a maximum of R500.

With Discovery Card you can get free travel insurance on your credit card. You can also use your Discovery Card at all Visa outlets, worldwide. Please call us on 0860 11 2273 before leaving the country, so we can adjust your Discovery Card’s international limit. Certain countries have set country code limits that reject foreign transactions.
The Discovery Card overseas travel insurance benefit is managed by Oojah Travel Protection (underwritten by Hollard Insurance Company Limited). It covers non-medical claims, such as baggage loss or delay, personal accident, cancellation and curtailment, travel delays, personal liability and much more.
You qualify for free overseas travel insurance through Discovery Card if you pay for your travel with your Discovery Card.
This benefit does not include cover for healthcare services. Discovery Health offers cover for healthcare services outside South Africa on certain plans.
You can get the Discovery Card travel insurance benefit if you:
- Paid with your Discovery Card (either swiped at the point of sale, used for an EFT, or any mechanism provided for in the Rules of the Discovery Card Loyalty Programme). This includes paying for the following for a qualifying resident of South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho or Namibia:
- A return airline or cruise ticket (including airfare or cruise fare and taxes, and departing from the abovementioned countries and travelling back to the point of departure); or
- The airport taxes on a Voyager-free ticket (from or back to the abovementioned countries and only where Miles were redeemed against the cardholder’s Discovery Card); or
- Any portion of the ticket redeemed by a Purple Card holder, using his or her Discovery Card (from or back to the above mentioned countries)
- Have a Discovery Card in good standing
This benefit is available for international travel only. The airline or cruise ticket must start and end in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho or Namibia.

Paying for your trip
Pay for your overseas holiday with your Discovery Card or do an EFT with your Discovery Card to qualify for the travel insurance benefit. If you use Discovery Miles, Voyager Miles or Avios to pay for any portion of your travel, you will need to pay a portion of the ticket (like airport tax) with your Discovery Card to qualify.
Submitting a claim
Our credit card travel insurance is underwritten by the Hollard Insurance Company and managed by Oojah Travel Protection (Pty) Ltd, a representative of Hollard. Hollard is a registered short-term insurer and an authorised financial services provider.
If you have an emergency while travelling, please call International SOS on +27 11 541 1222. International SOS provides assistance on behalf of Discovery Card. International SOS will send you the claim form to complete.
Overseas travel insurance claims must be submitted to Oojah Travel Protection, accompanied by the completed and signed claim form and copies of your airline tickets to process the claim. For help with your claims, please call Oojah Protection on 011 351 4533, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:30.
