Simply link your Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card to Vitality Move by following the simple 3-step process:

What is a Vitality Health Check and where can I get one done?
A Vitality Health Check is a simple and convenient set of the most essential health screening and preventive tests. This includes blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, weight assessment/BMI and a non-smoker's declaration. You can do a Vitality Health Check at any pharmacy in the Vitality Wellness Network.

What do I do if I completed my Vitality Health Check but I do not see it on record?
Once you complete a Vitality Health Check at a recognised facility, your results are submitted automatically. Please allow 7 days for your VHC results to reflect. Please allow for 2 – 4 weeks for your VHC results to reflect if you completed it at your company wellness day.

What is a Body Mass Index (BMI) and how is it calculated?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of your weight in relation to your height.

How do I know if my BMI is in range?
Males with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 and a waist circumference of less than 94cm are within range. Females with a BMI between 25 – 29.9 and a waist circumference of less than 80cm are within range.

How do I know if food is considered HealthyFood?
To check what foods are classified as HealthyFood view the Pick n Pay HealthyFood catalogue.

What can I win when I swipe my card?

  • If you are a winner but have not completed a Vitality Health Check you will win back the value of your HealthyFood items, up to a maximum value of R1 000 per shop.
  • If you are a winner and have completed a Vitality Health Check you will win back the value of your full basket, up to a maximum value of R1 000 per shop.

Where do I get a Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card and how do I link it?
You can get a Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card at any Pick n Pay store and register it at the kiosk or online.

Linking your Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card to Vitality Move is simple.

Follow these easy steps:

  • Dial *120*MOVE# (6683#)
  • Select 'Register' or 'Link Smart Shopper card'
  • Follow the prompts to enter your ID or passport number and Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card number to link to Vitality Move

If you've upgraded your Vitality Move membership you can also download the Discovery app and link your Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card.

How will I know if I have won in the Swipe to Win competition?
Vitality Move Swipe to Win and upgraded Vitality Move winners will be notified via SMS. You can also dial *120*MOVE# (6683#) to see if you are a winner by going to 'Reward status' and selecting 'Swipe to win results' or go to 'Pick n Pay reward history'

If you have upgraded your Vitality Move membership you can also view your Pick n Pay reward history on the Discovery app.

How many times am I allowed to win in a given time period?
There is no limit to the number of times you can win. Only 5 shops per day will qualify as an entry into Vitality Move Swipe to Win for that day

Is there a maximum to the amount or value I can win?
The maximum amount you can win is up to R1 000 every time you shop on a maximum of 5 swipes per day.

How is my reward given to me and how do I redeem it?
If you are a Vitality Move Swipe to Win member you can claim your reward by dialling *120*MOVE# (6683#). Request your reward under the 'Redeem reward' menu item. You will then receive an SMS with your reward code that you can redeem the next time you shop.

If you are an upgraded Vitality Move member you can also claim your reward through the Discovery app or through USSD by dialling *120*MOVE# (6683#).

At what Pick n Pay stores can I use my reward?
You can use your Swipe to Win reward at any Pick n Pay store but not at a Pick n Pay Liquor or Pick n Pay Express store. You will need the reward code to redeem it at your next shop. Vitality Move Swipe to Win and upgraded Vitality Move members can claim their rewards by dialing *120*6683#.

Upgraded Vitality Move members can also claim their rewards on the Discovery app.

What purchased items qualify for a reward?
The following items will not qualify for you to receive a reward:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes and other tobacco products
  • Vaping and vaping accessories
  • Matches and liquid lighters
  • Gas
  • Bill payments
  • Pharmacy
  • Baby formula
  • Electricity
  • Travel tickets & lottery tickets

What items can I redeem my reward on?
You may redeem your reward on any item except for when you are purchasing alcohol, cigarettes and other tobacco products, vaping and vaping accessories, matches and liquid lighters, gas, pharmacy, baby formula, electricity, travel tickets & lottery tickets. Your reward may also not be used to make bill payments.

Can I link another person’s Smart Shopper card to Vitality Move?
You can only link Vitality Move to a Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card that is linked to your own ID number.

I lost my Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card and got a new one, how do I link this to Vitality Move?
If you are a Vitality Move Swipe to Win member you can link your new Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card by dialling *120*Move# (6683#) and selecting 'Link new Smart Shopper card'.

If you are an upgraded Vitality Move member you can link your Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card through the Discovery app or by dialling *120*Move# (6683#) and selecting 'Link new Smart Shopper card'

I changed my cell phone number, will this affect my Vitality Move membership?
You can update your cell phone number on www.discovery.co.za and your Vitality Move membership will automatically be linked to your new number.

How many swipes are eligible to win in a day?
You are limited to 5 swipes per day.

How do I opt out of Vitality Move?
You can opt out of Vitality Move by calling a Discovery consultant on 0860 000 628.

How do I upgrade my Vitality Move membership?
To upgrade your Vitality Move membership call a Discovery consultant on 0860 000 628 or leave your details on the Discovery website and a Discovery consultant will call you back.

I can't activate Vitality Move Swipe to Win, what could the problem be?
To activate Vitality Move:

  • You must have Rand airtime as standard USSD rates apply (not free minutes)
  • You must be a member of a participating medical aid administered by Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd. Your own cellphone number must be linked to your medical aid policy
  • You must be over 18 years of age
  • You must have a valid Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card linked to your ID number

How do I earn a reward?
If you are an upgraded Vitality Move member you will earn a reward for every R250 spent on qualifying items at Pick n Pay. Your reward level will be based on your Vitality Health Check Body Mass Index results, waist circumference results and the number of fitness days you earned in the previous month.

How did you calculate my shopping reward amount?
If you are an upgraded Vitality Move member your reward will be calculated based on your Vitality Health Check results and the number of fitness days you earned in the previous month according to the table below:

Weekly reward value Activity required
R15* each week Do a Vitality Health Check and immediately get R60 per month (R15 x 4 weeks) in Pick n Pay shopping rewards.*
R20* each week If your weight is in range, your rewards will increase to R80 per month (R20 x 4 weeks) in Pick n Pay shopping rewards.*
R25* each week Earn 10 or more fitness days and get R100 per month (R25 x 4 weeks) in Pick n Pay shopping rewards.*

*You need to spend R250 or more on qualifying items at Pick n Pay to qualify for a shopping reward.

What is a qualifying fitness day?
A fitness day is the completion of 1 parkrun event, 1 gym visit or 10 000 or more steps in a day through your Samsung Health app or Apple Health app. parkruns, gym visits and 10 000 or more steps are referred to as fitness activities.

Only one fitness activity per day will count towards your fitness day. If you have an upgraded Vitality Move membership you can track your fitness days on 'Track health activity' by dialling *120*6683#, or on the Discovery app.

Where can I track my fitness days?
You can track your fitness days via USSD by dialling *120*6683#. Alternatively, you can visit the Discovery app and the Discovery website under 'Track health activity'.

Why only 1 fitness activity a day?
As long as you complete at least one fitness activity a day (1 parkrun, 1 gym visit, or 10 000 or more steps), you will earn a fitness day and receive the maximum amount of points for that activity. Vitality encourages regular physical activity throughout the week, rather than condense it into one day.

How do I link my parkrun?
Register your details for a parkrun near you. Complete a parkrun and scan your barcode at the finish line to earn a fitness day.

How do I join the gym and what discounts apply (VA and PF)?
You can go to your nearest Virgin Active or Planet Fitness gym (excluding Virgin Active Classic and Planet Fitness Platinum) to sign up. You will get up to R100 off your monthly gym membership fees.

Where can I see my gym visits?
You can view your gym visits by dialling *120*6683#. Alternatively, visit the Discovery app and Discovery website under Track health activity.

Why are my gym visits not appearing?
The maximum delay we expect for a gym visit is approximately two days. This can be due to technical issues. Please allow for another day before checking if the visits are reflecting.

How do I get my reward and how is it calculated?
You can earn up to R100 in movie rewards every month. Your movie rewards are issued weekly and are based on the movie reward level you achieved in the previous month through your Vitality Health Check results and number of fitness days earned.

When are my Ster-Kinekor rewards issued?
Your Vitality Move Ster-Kinekor rewards are issued every Wednesday. The reward redemption period is from Wednesday 00:01 am to Tuesday 23:59 pm the following week. Expired rewards are not redeemable.

How do I claim my movie reward?
You can claim your reward by dialling *120*6683# or going to the Discovery app. Once your reward has been claimed you will receive an SMS or digital card with a reward code that can be used on any Ster-Kinekor platform.

At what cinemas can I redeem my Ster-Kinekor rewards?
You can use your reward at any Ster-Kinekor cinema excluding Prestige and IMAX theatres.

What can I purchase with my Ster-Kinekor reward?
You can see a 2D or 3D movie. Only one reward code may be redeemed against one movie at a time. You may not redeem your reward for food or memorabilia.

Why can I only see a movie once?
This limit is in place to avoid any incorrect use of the Vitality benefit at Ster-Kinekor, such as lending cards to people who are not Vitality members.

How do I upgrade to Vitality?
To upgrade to Vitality use one of the following channels:

  • Call us on 0860 000 628
  • Leave your details on the website or app and an agent will call you back
  • SMS 'Upgrade' to 47751 and we will call you back
  • Leave your details on the USSD platform and we will call you back

Can my child get Vitality Move?
No, this product is only available to members on most medical aids administered by Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd, who are 18 years old and above.

Can I upgrade my Vitality Move membership when I have another Vitality products i.e. full Vitality, Vitality Active or Vitality Purple?
You cannot have an upgraded Vitality Move policy and another Vitality policy. You can activate Vitality Move Swipe to Win for free while you have another Vitality policy.

How much is it to upgrade my Vitality Move membership?
Upgrade Vitality Move for R35 per person per month and get up to R300 back on monthly shopping, gym and movies. Call 0860 000 628 to upgrade your Vitality Move membership.

How do I opt out of my upgraded Vitality Move membership?
You can opt out by calling a Discovery consultant on 0860 000 628.

Will I receive Vitality points if I join Vitality from upgraded Vitality Move?
Yes, you will receive Vitality points for fitness activities completed as they are qualifying activities under Vitality. See the Vitality rules for points-earning activities.

My number is not recognised when I try to activate Vitality Move. What should I do?
Log in, click on the ‘Portfolio’ tab > scroll and click on the 'Update your details' option and insert the One Time Pin (OTP) send to your phone or email address to update your details.

If the cell phone number in question is the number the OTP is sent to, and you cannot retrieve the OTP, please call a Discovery Consultant on 0860 000 628 to update your details.
