6 things you need to know about the new smart app notifications

We recently launched smart app notifications on the Discovery Bank app to make sure that you are always on top of what's happening with your accounts. Smart notifications ensure that you get instant updates on any activity on your account, and that you never miss an important update from us. Here is what you should know to make the most of smart notifications.

1. Keep push notifications switched on so you never miss out

You need to keep push notifications switched on on your device so we can send you notifications to let you know about transactions on your account or exciting new updates we've launched, or prompt you to authenticate your transactions.

Make sure you don't miss out by checking that push notifications are switched on under your smartphone settings, and that you are on the latest version of the banking app.

Here's how to check if yours are switched on:

2. There are different types to look out for

Your notification page on the banking app gives you a quick, easy way to see all types of smart app notifications. You can keep an eye on your day-to-day transactions, see when your debit orders go off, track your Financial Analyser budget, read about new app features and updates - and more.

You can also look forward to new ways of speaking to us using this page in future.

3. Missed an update? They're all available on the app

We categorise and store all notifications we send to you. So, if you dismissed a notification before you could read it or want to follow up on a transaction you completed, simply log in to your banking app and go to the notification page. There, you'll have access to the full history of notifications.

You'll also be able to see all your notifications for authorising transactions made using the app, so you can track your online transactions.

4. Get to the info you need - fast

You know how we often tell you to log in to your banking app and go to a certain place to see new features, update your info or access benefits? Well, now you can simply use the link in the app notifications to go straight to where you need to be. This makes it easier to navigate the app, safely and securely.

5. You control how you receive notifications

Get notifications how and when you want them. You can now choose what channels you'd prefer, with the option to switch off email notifications for transaction updates.

You can also now enable silent notifications during set times on the app for all non-critical notifications. Online banking transactions will continue to come through.

Go to Notification preferences on your banking app to set yours up now.

6. App notifications are safe and secure

With notifications being built into the Discovery Bank app, the chance of fraudsters reaching you through an app notification is completely eliminated. With smart notifications you can rest assured that the info you receive is from us and legitimate.
