Updates to Vitality rewards

Since the end of March 2020, Vitality Health has given members double their HealthyLiving rewards at Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Clicks and Dis-Chem. Then, in April 2020, Vitality Health allowed clients to double their rewards at Sportsmans Warehouse and Totalsports.

We’ve extended the double HealthyLiving rewards offer

We have exciting news! Vitality has extended the double HealthyLiving rewards offer once more, and it’s now valid until 31 August 2020.

This means that Discovery Bank clients, who have Vitality Health and Vitality Money memberships, plus a qualifying Discovery Bank product, could get up to 100% back on HealthyFood purchases and up to 75% back on HealthyCare and HealthyGear items. These rewards will be allocated in Discovery Miles.

Remember, the double rewards portion is based on members completing the relevant Vitality health assessments. Only the Vitality Health portion will be doubled; not the Vitality Money portion.

An update to the Vitality rewards payout cycle

Vitality will be moving to a simpler payout cycle each month for HealthyFood, HealthyCare and HealthyGear rewards, and the Vitality Money portion of Fuel and Uber rewards.

From now on, the rewards our clients earn on partner purchases made in the current month will be determined by their positive healthy banking and healthy lifestyle behaviours in the previous month.

  • For Vitality Health rewards portions
    Our clients’ dynamic rewards percentages change based on whether they (and their spouse, if applicable) have completed their Vitality Age assessment, Vitality Health Check and Vitality Fitness Assessment, and if the results of these assessments are still valid on the last day of a particular month. This determines their Vitality Health rewards percentages for the following month.
     
  • For Vitality Money rewards portions
    Dynamic rewards percentages change based on their qualifying Discovery Bank product and their Vitality Money status on the last day of a particular month, and their qualifying Discovery Bank credit card spend for that month. This determines their Vitality Money rewards percentages for the following month.

Here’s an example of how this will work if you are a Discovery Bank client with Vitality Health:

  • Based on your Vitality engagement, your personalised dynamic reward percentage for HealthyFood at the end of July 2020 was 25%.
  • This personalised dynamic reward percentage (25%) is what we will use to calculate your HealthyFood reward payout for purchases made in August 2020.
  • You’ll receive your August reward payout within the first two weeks of September 2020.
Important for you to note
  • As part of the transition, you will receive any outstanding July rewards that are due to you in August 2020 while Vitality aligns their rewards payout cycles. You will then get their next reward payouts within the first two weeks of September 2020, and at the same time for every month that follows.
  • Vitality will implement this cycle for all other rewards over the coming months. No action is necessary from you.
  • You can view your dynamic personalised rewards percentages on their Discovery app, Discovery Bank app and www.discovery.co.za.
