All Purple and Classic Plan clients receive 25% off all Uber trips. This discount is limited to 15 trips a month and a maximum discount of R50 a trip, giving you a maximum discount of R750 a month.

Up to 10% off your Uber Trips

Clients on the Essential Plan receive 10% off all Uber trips. This discount is limited to 15 trips a month and a maximum discount of R30 a trip, giving you a maximum discount of R450 a month.

Follow these steps to activate your Uber benefit on our website:

Log in to your Discovery profile at www.discovery.co.za.

Navigate to the Car and home insurance tab and select Other rewards and benefits.

Select Drive Me discounts then Learn more.

Click on Learn more about Uber driving services and then Activate Uber benefit.

You will receive a confirmation email with your voucher code which will automatically be applied to your account.

The Uber app has several useful features. It will find your location via GPS, allow you to select a car option and show you approximately how far away the closest driver is.

With Uber, all pickups are made on demand and drivers arrive within minutes. You also have the option to schedule an UberX ride in advance.

You can also rate your driver. Uber takes this feedback seriously so that you can be assured of a high quality experience every time.

You can use Uber in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Just open the app when you're ready to ride and it will connect you to a driver nearby.

  • We have introduced a number of new policies that both drivers and riders must adhere to at all times when using the app.
    • Uber will use new technology to verify all drivers and couriers are wearing a mask or face covering before taking a trip in South Africa.
  • Other safety measures include:
    • Safety checklist for couriers: Prior to going online, couriers will be asked to confirm they've taken certain safety measures such as wearing a mask or face covering, sanitising their delivery bag, adhering to social distancing measures and following no-contact delivery instructions when dropping off an order.
    • Free cancellations for safety concerns: Drivers can cancel a ride without a penalty if a rider isn't wearing a mask or face covering. Riders can do the same. These cancellations must be related to safety concerns, Uber's Community Guidelines prohibit discrimination against anyone based on their race or perceived national origin.
