Today's tech-savvy patient wants quick and seamless access to the right doctors, pharmacies or hospitals for their needs. What better way to find the right provider within minutes than through the slick and enhanced Find a healthcare provider feature on your Discovery app?
Our daily lives are intricately entwined with the technology and gadgets that get us from A to Z. From the wearable device on your wrist that’s quietly tracking your steps all day, to the navigation app that suggests a better route to the office to highly developed digital platforms that are integral to engaging with the world around us.
Bringing the digital healthcare journey to members’ fingertips
So, it’s no surprise that we expect the same technologies to enhance our healthcare journeys too. "When it comes to healthcare, all of us are increasingly digitally connected, informed and empowered,” says Dr Noluthando Nematswerani, Head of the Centre for Clinical Excellence at Discovery Health. “More and more, we’re engaging with health content we need through the digital devices we use. However, there is so much information out there. How do we know which of the digital doors we might open will lead us to credible and useful health information or lead us to the right providers for our needs? We’ve worked hard to enhance our Discovery app offerings to ensure they give members access to the best possible health information and care - through the best possible technology."
The Find a healthcare provider feature is now better than ever
“Our app has always given members the ability to find a healthcare provider. Members will be thrilled with the app’s latest enhancements,” explains Dr Nematswerani.
The enhanced feature will now allow members to do all this and more:
- Find doctors and hospitals near you in our network.
- Filter to find specific doctors to suits your needs
- Check your cover for your care specific-conditions
- Search a hospital and find all doctors available at that facility
- See a doctor’s practice information
- Get directions to the doctor or hospital and navigate to them.
Discovery’s investment in healthcare technologies is all about you!
“At Discovery Health, we continue to invest in digital healthcare technologies that help each of our members to make more informed healthcare decisions,” adds Dr Nematswerani. “Examples of this include the electronic health record -Discovery HealthID - which gives doctors seamless access to your health history and enables them to make better treatment decisions. Then, there’s Discovery DrConnect, available through the Discovery app, offering you access to virtual consultations with your doctors, and featuring a library of over 7 billion doctor-created answers to common medical questions.
“Now, we encourage our members to use the find a healthcare provider functionality on the Discovery app to help them to access the best care, when they need it,” adds Dr Nematswerani. “And, we will continue to invest in similar digital healthcare technologies to help make our members’ healthier and to enhance and protect their lives.”
