With roots dating back 50 years, padel has exploded onto the amateur sports scene, becoming the fastest-growing sport globally.

Imagine four players, armed with short-handled carbon-fibre racquets, battling it out in an enclosed court with a specialised ball. It's a pulse-pounding blend of speed, strategy, and skill that's guaranteed to get the blood pumping.

From 11 February 2023 to 19 February 2023, the Camps Bay Sports Ground will showcase the cream of international padel players from around the world, kicking off the 2023 A1Padel professional tour calendar.

The A1 event will allow people learn more about padel and watch the elite in action. Plus, it presents an opportunity for spectators to give back to the community. A1 Padel has committed to building a padel court in the underserved Lavender Hill area of Cape Town at the end of the tournament to encourage those who might not have easy access to take up the sport.

Crowd favourite Tolito Leonel Aguirre, as well as the 2022 Masters winners, Maximiliano Arce and Franco Dal Bianco, will be returning to compete for the coveted trophy and a prize purse of $110,000.

Tickets to the events cost R200 per person, with free entry for children under 12 years old. Spectators can view the exhibition and practice games and enjoy exciting live music, meals from food trucks and giveaways.

To get a taste of the event, you can watch it on television before heading to the event in Cape Town. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be broadcast live, along with highlights during the week of the tournament, on SuperSport.
