Discovery is a sponsor of the inaugural Oceans8 Charity Swim, South Africa's first warm water ocean challenge of its kind that's entirely for charity.
Join us in Durban from 16 to 17 June 2023 (18 June is a contingency day if conditions are poor on either 16 or 17 June) as we swim a mile or eight in support of the Duzi-Umngeni Conservation Trust, National Sea Rescue Institute, Project Rhino, Singakwenza and WILDTRUST. 8 Mile swimmers will raise funds for these charities, and all funds raised by one-mile swimmers will be split between the nine invitational charities. .
How to swim for charity
You can choose to do an 8-mile or a 1-mile swim for charity on Friday, 16 June and Saturday 17 June. If the weather conditions are poor, the event will continue on Sunday, 18 June.
Each mile, or 1.6 km, will start every 75 minutes from 07:00 at the Durban Undersea Club in KwaZulu-Natal.
Entries are now open! The R1,000 entry fee includes exclusive Oceans8 branded kit, cap and a medal. Plus, Vitality members can earn:
- 1,100 Vitality points: 1 mile (1.6 km) = 600 Vitality points + 500 bonus points
- 3,500 Vitality points: 8 miles (12.8 km) = 3,000 Vitality points + 500 bonus points
