Sports Gear and Equipment upfront discount

The main member and spouse must complete both assessments once every 12 months to qualify for the maximum upfront discount.

For sports gear and equipment, the upfront discount applies to R2 000 qualifying spend per member each month.
Note: Your upfront discount applies to the first R2000 spent on qualifying sports gear and equipment items at Sportsmans Warehouse and Totalsports.
Fitness devices and Nike performance footwear and apparel
The upfront discount applies to R6 000's worth of qualifying fitness devices and Nike performance gear in a rolling 12 month period.
You can only have one reward available at any given time for either a fitness device or Nike performance footwear and apparel.
These are the items you can get discounts on with the R6 000 spend limit:
1 Fitness device up to 50% off R4 000
Nike performance footwear up to 50% off R2 000
Nike apparel up to 50% off R1 000
Possible reward combinations within the R6 000 overall limit.
Vitality Active Gear in action
The full value of the reward is used regardless if the item costs less or more than the reward limit for that item.
Full available spend
You have the full R6 000 available to spend on a fitness device, Nike performance footwear or Nike performance apparel.
Purchase a device
You purchase a fitness device worth R2 500. However, the full R4 000 will be deducted from your available spend.
Remaining available spend
The remaining R2 000 of your available spend can be used to purchase Nike performance footwear or two Nike performance apparel items.
12 month rolling period
The R4 000 used for your fitness device will be available again after 12 months.
What you need to know
Find out your Vitality Age online and complete a Vitality Health Check or a Virtual Vitality Health Check-in to increase the discount to 25%.To ensure maximum upfront discount, both the main member and spouse (if applicable) must complete both assessments once every rolling 12 month period.
From 1 January 2024, only Vitality Health, specifically Vitality Premium, members have access to the Vitality Active Gear benefit.
- Step 1: Activate Vitality Active Rewards in the Discovery app to get 10% off.
- Step 2: Complete your Vitality Age and Vitality Health Check or Virtual Vitality Health Check-in assessments to get 25% off.
- Step 3: Earn 5% for every 5 Vitality Active Rewards Exercise goals that you achieve, up to a maximum of 25 goals for 25% additional upfront discount. We look back over a rolling 52-week period to see how many Exercise goals you have achieved. They do not need to be achieved consecutively. This is only available for the fitness devices and Nike performance gear rewards.
Note: On a family policy, the main member and secondary member must complete both their assessments to qualify for the 25% upfront discount. They must both complete their weekly Vitality Active Rewards Exercise goals to qualify for up to 50% upfront discount for the fitness devices and Nike performance gear rewards.
Go to the Vitality Active Gear page in the Discovery app. Decide whether you want to select a Fitness device reward or a Nike performance gear reward by toggling the tabs at the top of the page.
- Then tap the button at the bottom of the page to generate your reward code.
- Choose the partner at which you will redeem your reward. If you are selecting a Nike gear reward, you will first need to choose whether you want Nike performance footwear or Nike performance apparel.
- Once you have generated your reward code, give the code to the cashier before buying your product. Tell the cashier that you would like to pay with Vitality Active Gear and show them the code. The cashier will either ask you to scan the QR code or read out the number below the QR code which will apply your upfront discount to your purchase.
To change your discount code for fitness devices or Nike performance footwear and apparel, you can:
- Go to the discount code that you have already generated in the Discovery app
- Tap on Remove or change discount code at the bottom of the page.
- Then you can follow the same process to select a different partner or reward.
- Redeem your discount at the newly selected store for the reward selected
To cancel or change your sports gear and equipment discount once you have generated the discount code, you must contact us on 0860 99 88 77, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 18:00.
For fitness devices and for Nike performance gear (footwear and apparel), you can remove and / or change the discount code that you generated during the current month. You do this by accessing the generated discount code and selecting the "Remove or change discount code" option at the bottom of the page. Thereafter, you can follow the same process you previously followed to generate a new discount code and select a different partner or select a different reward. Note, this functionality is not available for sports gear and equipment.
