Let's make some waves in the Eastern Cape
That's right! The Discovery Surfers Challenge is back for the 47th year. The annual mixed sport event invites walkers, runners and paddlers to make their way along the Eastern Cape's beautiful coastline. Join us on Saturday, 26 February for an epic adventure you'll never forget.
What started as a dare back in 1975 in a popular East London watering hole soon became a sporting feat for the ages. Today, adventure seekers come from all over the country to experience East London's famous surfing spots, beaches and mountain trails.
Whether you're a Surfers Challenge legend or keen to try something new, there's something for everyone at this year's event. You can choose to enter the:
- 17.5 km surf-ski paddle race: Kwelera River to Nahoon Beach
- 17.5 km trail run: Kwelera River to Nahoon Beach
- 10 km trail run: Gonubie Hotel
- 5 km fun run open for all ages: Blue Lagoon

Tickets range between R100 and R200.
Need more reasons to enter?
There are limited-edition T-shirts up for grabs for those who complete the 17.5 km race and for the first finishers in the other categories. Shirts are limited, so get training to earn your shirt (and bragging rights)!
Plus, Vitality members can earn 800 Vitality fitness points for completing the 5 km fun run and 1 100 points for the 10 km trail run, 17.5 km running and 17.5 km paddling races.
