How do I view my gym workouts for the last 12 months?

To view your gym workout log for the last 12 months, go to your Gym Tracker or log in to the Discovery app. The log is only available to members with an active Vitality Gym benefit.

Please allow up to four days for your recent gym workouts to reflect.

  • Choose a health club.
  • Call Virgin Active on 0860 200 911 or visit their website at www.virginactive.co.za.
  • Visit the club and sign a contract.
  • Virgin Active members now pay a once-off gym activation fee equal to one month's full retail Club gym membership rate.
    However, Vitality 65+ members do not pay an activation fee to join Virgin Active. They will also have access to specialised classes tailored to members 65 years or older. To keep your maximum Vitality gym saving at Virgin Active or Planet Fitness, you must work out at the gym at least 36 times in a rolling 12-month period. This is a minimum of three times a month. Only one gym workout a day counts towards this total workout requirement.

Adults earn a minimum of 100 Vitality Health points for one gym workout a day, up to a maximum of 30 000 Vitality Health points a year (for each member), based on your fitness points cap or subject to the additional adult dependant's cap of 25 000 points for a policy each year for all additional adult dependants.

To have a qualifying workout, you must exercise for longer than 30 minutes during each visit at your health club.

Remember to always take your gym access card or tag. We record workouts at the turnstile. If the turnstile is not working, ask to sign the manual register at the reception.

If you do not work out at the gym 36 times within a rolling 12-month period, your gym benefit will either drop to 50% off the standard gym fees every month (if you joined from 1 January 2010) or it will fall away (if you joined before 1 January 2010).

If you activated the gym benefit after 1 January 2010:

If you do not work out at the gym at least 36 times in a rolling 12-month period, you will still have access to the gym but your discount will reduce to 50% off the standard monthly gym fees.

Please note that the drop in gym savings applies to members (main member and spouse) with Virgin Active Club Planet Fitness Local and KeyFIT Club memberships.

To have a qualifying workout, you must exercise for longer than 30 minutes during each visit at your health club.

If you activated the Vitality Active Rewards Gym Booster benefit, you will no longer get cash back. You will only be eligible for Gym Booster again once you reach a minimum of 36 gym workouts in a rolling 12-month period and your gym saving will be 75%.

If you activated the gym benefit before 1 January 2010:

If you don't work out at the gym at least 36 times in a rolling 12-month period, your gym benefit will fall away. You can re-join the gym within 30 days of the cancellation date and you won’t pay an activation or tag fee.
To start, you'll get 50% off your monthly gym fee, and as soon as you reach 36 workouts in a rolling 12-month period (taking your past training history into account), then you'll get up to 75% off.

Your workouts to the gym can take up to four days to reflect on the Vitality Gym Tracker.

Your rolling 12-month period starts from your benefit start date. If you activate between the 1st and 15th of the month, your benefit start date will be the 1st of that month. If you activate from the 16th to the end of the month, your start date will be the 1st of the following month.

At the end of your first year of using the Vitality Gym Benefit, we count your workouts to check that you have been to the gym 36 times in those 12 months. From then on, at the end of every month, we count back 12 months to find out what your total number of gym workouts were during that period.

For example: If you joined the health club on 1 June 2019 then your first 12-month cycle is from 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2020.

If your gym contract start date was before 1 December 2007 and you are a Silver, Gold or Diamond Vitality status member, then there is no second member fee to be paid

If your Vitality status drops to either blue or bronze a premium fee of for the second member will be charged as follows:

  • R211 at Virgin Active
Planet Fitness
  • Choose a health club.
  • Call Planet Fitness on 0861 496 463 or visit their website at www.planetfitness.co.za.
  • Visit the club and sign a contract.
  • Planet Fitness members now pay a once-off gym activation fee equal to one month's full retail rate of the gym membership contract.
    However, Vitality 65+ members do not pay an activation fee to join Planet Fitness. They will also have access to specialised classes tailored to members 65 years or older.   • Planet Fitness offers three membership options for you to choose from:
