Have you heard of Vitality MoveToGive? Launched in 2016, Discovery's crowd-sourced philanthropy model is an example of what we can achieve when we work together.
The idea is simple. When you get healthier with Vitality Active Rewards, you can make the world around you a little brighter by selecting the MoveToGive instant reward in the Discovery Bank app or donating your Ðiscovery Miles towards Vitality MoveToGive charity initiatives in the Vitality Mall.
Getting healthy to get (others) rewarded: how it works
When you achieve their weekly exercise, drive or spend goals through Vitality Active Rewards, you earn Ðiscovery Miles, our reward currency that's more valuable than cash.
You can use your Ðiscovery Miles to redeem rewards of your choice through the Vitality Mall in the Discovery app, like:
- coffees and smoothies
- tasty treats
- shopping spoils
- entertainment and gaming, and more.
One of your reward options is Vitality MoveToGive charity donations where you can donate from as little as Ð200 (R20) to selected charitable organisations.
You can also use your Ðiscovery Miles to make a difference in the Discovery Bank app. Every time you achieve a goal, you can choose between enjoying an instant reward like a coffee or donating to the latest MoveToGive initiative or wait to play your gameboard on Rewards Wednesday to earn Discovery Miles.

The impact? Millions of lives touched and counting
Since 2016, we've partnered with organisations such as Cotlands, Dis-Chem Foundation, Food Forward SA, Gift of the Givers, Goodbye Malaria, Kids Haven, Kolisi Foundation, Reach for a Dream, the South African Guide-Dog Association and others that champion important social causes in South Africa.
In 2024, Vitality members donated R6.5 million through Vitality MoveToGive with R1 million donated by the Discovery Fund and strategic partners. That's R7.5 million that went to charity organisations across South Africa, impacting the lives of 500,000 people.
