Meet Heartlands Baby Sanctuary
Based in Somerset West in the Western Cape, Heartlands is a safe haven for children from birth to age six who are in desperate need of care and attention. For the past seven years, this temporary residential safe care facility has helped over 340 children and babies.
Heartlands takes care of 25 children at a time until they're ready to leave and start new lives in their forever homes. Dedicated staff look after their health, nutrition and emotional needs and help them reach developmental milestones through education and stimulation.
How can you help? From 24 February 2023 to 7 April 2023, you can donate your Discovery Miles to Heartlands Baby Sanctuary through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app.

Get active, drive well or spend responsibly through Vitality Active Rewards to earn Discovery Miles. You can then donate your Discovery Miles to Heartlands Baby Sanctuary through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app:
- For 140 Discovery Miles, feed a vulnerable child for a day during their safe residential care at Heartlands.
- For 500 Discovery Miles, you can give a vulnerable child educational toys to take with them to their forever home when leaving Heartlands.
- For 1,500 Discovery Miles, you can give a vulnerable child clothes to take with them to their forever home when leaving Heartlands.
- For 2,250 Discovery Miles, you can give a play or behavioural therapy session to a vulnerable child who is receiving safe residential care at Heartlands.
How to donate to Heartlands through Vitality MoveToGive
- Activate Vitality Active Rewards in the latest version of the Discovery app.
- Achieve your exercise, drive or money goals to earn a play on the gameboard.
- Pick a tile on the gameboard to reveal Discovery Miles.
