You can help vaccinate South Africa's children against infectious childhood diseases with Vitality and UNICEF

Vaccines are one of the most important interventions we can use to save lives. Here's how you can help Vitality MoveToGive and UNICEF protect more children across South Africa against infectious diseases.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how dangerous infectious diseases can be. They can wreak havoc on societies, put lives at risk and place undue pressure on our healthcare systems. The pandemic has also reduced the coverage of routine childhood immunizations, threatening the lives of South Africa's youngest children.

However, there's always hope. Vaccines can help lower and manage many infectious diseases and, in some cases, eradicate them completely. Vaccines already have for many years.

That's why we invite you to make a donation to Vitality MoveToGive and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to increase the number of vaccines available for children in South Africa.

UNICEF is dedicated to supporting public healthcare in South Africa to make sure that all children get vaccinated against infectious diseases - and they need your help.

Here's what you can do

This month, you can use your Discovery Miles to donate vaccines to protect children against measles, tuberculosis (TB), human papillomavirus (HPV) and other infectious childhood diseases.

You can earn your Discovery Miles by achieving your exercise, drive or money goals on Vitality Active Rewards. You can then donate them towards life-saving vaccines through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app:

150 Discovery Miles

Protect a child under 12 months against measles.

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease and a significant cause of death among young children.

300 Discovery Miles

Protect a young child against measles and TB.

South Africa's TB burden is one of the highest in the world. If left untreated, TB can be fatal. Your donation will help prevent a child from getting TB and measles.

900 Discovery Miles

Protect a girl child age 9 and 10 against cervical cancer with an HPV vaccine.

The HPV vaccine helps prevent cervical cancer - the second most common cancer among women in South Africa. Your donation will help a young girl get vaccinated against HPV to reduce her risk of cervical cancer.

3 400 Discovery Miles

Donate a comprehensive six-in-one vaccine to make sure a newborn is fully protected at 10 weeks.

Your donation will protect a newborn at 10 weeks against dangerous and preventable diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, haemophilus influenza type B and hepatitis B.
