Celebrating a new Vitality Active Rewards milestone

Congratulations to our Vitality members who've achieved 500 consecutive weekly exercise goals with Vitality Active Rewards! That's almost 10 years of consistent exercise, come rain or shine.

We're celebrating the first couple of Vitality members to have achieved 500 exercise goals in a row. That's over 9.5 years of consistently getting up, getting active and never giving up.

Each journey was unique. Cindy went from walking the promenade to running her first Comrades Marathon at 54. Johan turned weekly rewards into 310 parkruns. Judd balanced a demanding job and family life, keeping active through late-night steps and lockdown workouts. Donald pursued a PhD while training for ultra-marathons, showing focus and drive in every part of his life.

Gerhard, a lifelong teacher and coach, brought that same energy to his own fitness. Grace stayed active through injuries and major life changes. Tony kept moving with dancing, running and garden walks. Sigrid showed incredible strength by staying active during breast cancer treatment, even walking hospital corridors to meet her goals.

Brian, Anton, Dean and Louise also reached this milestone through steady, consistent effort. Their commitment shows that progress comes from showing up each week, no matter what.

If you're part of the Vitality 500 Club, congratulations on this mammoth milestone. If you're feeling inspired to join them, keep reading.

Spoiler: you don't have to be a super athlete to do it

Every step you take brings you closer to your goal of moving more for your health. (And the rewards are nice, too.) Even small changes towards creating and sustaining healthier habits can have a significant impact on your health and lifespan.

The Vitality Habit Index, released by Vitality and London School of Economics, shows that sustaining a healthy exercise habit of taking at least 5,000 steps three times a week for two years can add up to three years to your life expectancy.

How do you create healthy habits that last? The Vitality Habit Index shows that the most enduring exercise habits are formed gradually, in laddered increments, starting with a lower target. We call this technique habit laddering:

Start with small, consistent workouts until exercise becomes a routine part of your life. Before you know it, you'll be celebrating your exercise streak of 10, 25, 50, 100 and yes, even 500 goals!
