Accidents and unexpected incidents can be costly, and you might not be financially prepared to handle them. Short-term insurance helps you replace possessions and pay for repairs, legal fees, vehicle towing and even storage - without going into debt.
Insurers offer emergency assistance for situations like running out of fuel, being locked out of your vehicle or needing to jump-start your vehicle. In more serious incidents, like accidents or hijackings, telematics-based insurance offers added protection by detecting emergencies and automatically dispatching assistance when you can't call, ensuring that help reaches you when it matters most.
Many insurers offer incentive programmes that add value to your cover and overall experience. For example, by driving well or remaining claim-free over a certain period, you may qualify for cash back or other rewards, recognising and encouraging responsible behaviour while enhancing the value of your insurance.
The chance of you having one or more claims in the next year and the expected costs associated with these claims have the biggest impact on your monthly premium. We determine this by evaluating historical claims data of clients with a similar risk profile to yourself.
For example, if 100 clients with similar risk profiles had 10 claims every month costing R20 each, the premium for each client would be R2 every month (10 claims x R20 for a claim ÷ 100 clients). This example does not take into consideration the capital costs and expenses which also impact your premiums
You can get car insurance if your license is suspended. Full disclosure on your part will be required, and your risk will be assessed, measured and priced. You will not be allowed to drive the car as in doing so not only will you be breaking the law but the terms of your insurance contract as well. Any event that happens while you are driving is not covered and such a claim rejected.
If your car is going to be driven regularly by someone else while your licence is suspended, you must declare this to us so that we can note them as the regular driver.
Nothing changes and this is acceptable as long as they are in possession of a valid driver's licence that will allow them to drive your type of vehicle. In terms of your plan any person with a valid driver's licence can drive your car and the Plans terms and conditions apply to them equally, as if they were you.
