The Health Check is a simple and convenient set of important health screening and preventative tests that can be done in just 30 minutes. Regular health checks will give you the knowledge and necessary steps to manage your health and enjoy a healthier future.

The Health Check is made up of the following screenings:

• Blood pressure
• Blood glucose
• Cholesterol
• Body mass index (BMI)
• HIV

Your cover for the Health Check

As a member of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, you are covered for one Health Check per year at a wellness provider in our network. We pay for the Health Check from your Screening and Prevention Benefit. This means it won’t affect your day-to-day benefits.

By completing your Health Check, you may also qualify for personalised health goals on Vitality Active Rewards, even if you’re not a Vitality member.

So, who qualifies for health goals

1. Any Discovery Health Medical Scheme (DHMS) member already registered on the Chronic Illness benefit for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia or ischemic heart disease can sign up on their Discovery app.
2. All DHMS members with an elevated risk of diabetes, heart disease or certain other chronic conditions are also eligible for Health goals – but you’ll only know if you fit into this category by doing a Health Check.

The Discovery Health Medical Scheme is an independent non-profit entity governed by the Medical Schemes Act, and regulated by the Council for Medical Schemes. It is administered by a separate company, Discovery Health (Pty) Ltd, an authorised financial services provider.
