Update on cyber cover

Clients have the flexibility to add optional extensions to their cyber cover and choose the amount of cover they need. In addition, they can add cyber protection packages available to them at discounted rates.

Core cyber cover

Our cyber offering offers comprehensive cyber cover for first- and third-party losses, including the following:

First-party losses

• Loss of data, data recovery, ransom and other legal costs.
• Business interruption (if stated in the Plan Schedule to be included). For example, loss of profits or reduction in revenue following a cyber event.
• Crisis and reputational risks (if stated in the Plan Schedule to be included). For example, losses incurred due to a crisis or damage to the business's reputation following a cyber event.

Third-party losses

• Legal liability costs and legal defence costs.
• Multimedia liability following a cyber event (if stated in the Plan Schedule to be included). Multimedia activities include the publication or broadcasting of any digital media content on the insured's computer systems after a cyber event.

Clients will be able to select the sum insured they want to be covered for; limits above R500 000 require additional underwriting.

Cyber protection packages

We also offer clients risk management packages offered through our partner, AVeS Cyber Security (see the table below). With these packages, clients can proactively manage their cyber risks. If they have one of the packages, AVeS Cyber Security will be able to provide immediate remote assistance in case of a cyber event.

In addition, for every R15 000 of cyber insurance purchased, we will give clients one Basic Protection package at no additional premium. This can be installed on one of their computers.
