Road safety for kids starts with YOU this Transport Month
October is Transport Month and it's a good time to step up and drive the movement towards safer roads in South Africa. Help steer South African school children in a safer, healthier direction with Vitality MoveToGive.
South Africa continues to have an unacceptably high rate of preventable road accidents. Children are especially vulnerable to reckless and negligent driving as they travel to and from school.
Discovery Vitality is committed to contributing towards a healthier society and this Transport Month, we've launched a Vitality MoveToGive campaign to help make roads safer for children.
The campaign will support and help expand the Discovery Safe Travel to School* programme, in partnership with Childsafe South Africa. The programme helps educate scholar drivers about road safety, while also upskilling them through defensive driving courses and first aid training, and providing them with ongoing eye tests and other health screenings. Through Discovery Insure's DQ Track technology, their driving is also monitored, recorded and analysed, and the highest scoring drivers are rewarded for transporting children safely.
Use your Vitality reward points to drive progress towards road safety for children
Whether you're training for an upcoming race, commuting to and from work, or managing your money better, achieving your Vitality Active Rewards goals allows you to contribute your Vitality reward points towards this MoveToGive initiative.
- 25 Vitality reward points will contribute towards incentives that reward scholar drivers for good, safe driving.
- 40 Vitality reward points goes towards vehicle safety improvements for scholar drivers on the Discovery Safe Travel to School programme.
- With 100 Vitality reward points, you'll contribute towards first aid training for scholar drivers.
- 250 Vitality reward points contributes towards defensive driving training to help scholar drivers transport kids to school safely in the event of unpredictable road hazards.
Each MoveToGive donation towards this campaign will be matched by the Discovery Fund, which continues to be the main funder of this initiative.

*The Safe Travel to School programme is a partnership between Discovery Limited and Childsafe South Africa. It's aimed at reducing the number of deaths and injuries of children during transport to and from school. The focus is on improving the driving behaviour and knowledge of drivers through a collaboration with Discovery Insure and other partners.
